Nutrition

This customized nutritional approach involves examining the body for manifestations of poor diet, digestion, and bowel elimination. Called the Source of Stress (SOS) Examination, we look for the internal imbalances in your body and how we can help bring you back to balance. Because a healthy diet is important to healing, a visit with our Health Coach is included with your initial case review

Have you been trying to make some changes to your own behavior but get overwhelmed? Have you been given recommendations by your healthcare team but you are having trouble making it work for you? Health coaching can help! Because a healthy lifestyle is important to healing a visit with the Health Coach is included with any initial case review with Fran Anderson.

Evidence-based health coaching is a partnership between a client and a coach that taps into your own motivation and recognizes you are the true agent of change. The coach guides self-management of health risks and chronic disease by helping you resolve mixed feelings about change and by providing support, realistic goal setting, information, and planning. Your coach will meet you where you are and help you break changes down into do-able steps.
In a visit you should expect:
To do at least half of the talking.
Make your own decisions about your health care.
Discuss ambivalence (mixed feelings) about change.
To be met where you are, not where someone else thinks you should be.
Be an active participant.
Be accountable.

Ellen was a physician assistant from 1987 to 2021. Early on she was excited about this profession, which was still new. There was an emphasis on a team approach that included the patient as a team member. In primary care you were able to develop a relationship with patients and learn about their values. Over time things changed. She became disillusioned with the business of western medicine and retired. Soon after her retirement, Fran Anderson asked Ellen to consider being a health coach. She thought about it, investigated it, and did additional training. Ellen draws inspiration from the memory of her mother. She was a dietician and lactation consultant who advocated for and empowered her clients. Ellen enjoys bicycling, cross country skiing, gardening, and working on the Ice Age Trail. Her passion is scuba diving.
